A/N: This is the result of boredom. If you find this story boring, I'm sorry as boredom was a key factor to why I wrote this in the first place.

Disclaimer: I don't own Cats or the characters, only the plot. The plot, that's it. I also own a pack of Gardetto's!

On a warm evening, Alonzo, Tumblebrutus and Plato agreed to have a bet with Tugger, who set down the terms and had all three agree on. If Cassandra hadn’t turned down Plato’s request to be his mate, the bet would have never occurred, yet as Fate would have, it did. Plato had been sulking slightly as he joined his friends Tumblebrutus and Alonzo to discuss the queens of the Junkyard who were always talking about them in turn.

“It’s Tugger’s fault”, Alonzo concluded, “All the queens like him for some stupid reason, I think it’s just his ego but if you’ve spent time with Etcetera, then you may think differently. I mean, she blabbers on and on about Tugger, commenting on the smallest insignificant things about him, such as the way he combs his whiskers, what kind of collar he’s wearing or that he winked at her the other day.”

“He winked at her the other day?” yelped Tumblebrutus who, as everyone knew, wanted to be much more than friends with her. As Alonzo nodded his confirmation Tumble’s ears drooped and he ducked his head down, feeling both rejected and depressed. Plato felt a little better that his friends were offering sympathy and said, “I bet we could have all the unmated queens in the Junkyard if we wanted, with or without Tugger.”

“What did you say?” a voice drawled from the behind a pipe. The Rum Tum Tugger emerged from behind the pipe and glared at the three surprised toms who glared right back at him when they had gotten over the previous shock. Tugger took on a hurt look as he continued ignoring Alonzo completely, “Plato, Tumble, my friends, you guys always loved me and suddenly you just go and switch side?”

“I liked you better before you stole my queen, and before I was mature”, replied the bitter Plato who had become just as depressed as he had been before. Tugger merely shrugged before looking at Tumble who nodded in agreement with Plato. At this, Tugger became slightly angry and more than a little bit annoyed as he spat, “Fine, if you think you’re better than I am at attracting queens, and we’re talking about me, then why we don’t make a bet?”

Alonzo stepped up to him putting his face into Tugger’s way and retorted, “Okay, what’s this brilliant bet of yours?”

“I’ll compete against you three in getting the queens to like us the best”, Tugger said as he smirked with satisfaction. If he had expected Alonzo to back down with only one sentence like that, he was sorely mistaken.

“Alright, I agree to that”, Alonzo replied and both Tumble and Plato nodded their heads in agreement. Tugger had been King of the Junkyard for too long they decided, after all, Kings always get overthrown.
A surprised Tugger replied, “Fine, then I’ll lay down the terms. Whichever side gets the most queens will be the new King of the Junkyard and the other side will never talk to another queen again.”

All three opposing toms nodded and agreed to the terms and signed a document which proved it, in case anyone wanted to take back their words. If Munkustrap had been there or even Demeter, they would have put a stop to this impulsive bet made by four foul-mooded toms. But again, Fate flies in its own direction and will never think to stop for anyone, even Tugger, who would be regretting this bet.
