Happy. Sad. Good. Bad. The constant battle raging in the mind of a certain Rose Tyler. She knew it was irrational of her to think this way, but she couldn’t help it. The heart has a way of doing that: setting itself so firmly on something that logic and rationality is thrown out the window. Rose was hurting the human, she was aware of that too.

‘Rose, are you okay, earth to Rose!’

‘Huh?’

She was startled out of her musings by the clone.

‘What’s wrong?’

‘Nothing, nothing’s wrong, I’m fine’ she gave a small, unconvincing smile, hoping he wouldn’t see through the lie. He was only trying to help but that was a little difficult when he was a part of the problem. The Doctor had assured her that the clone was just like him in every way, looked like him, and sounded like him, except for that one crucial difference: he wasn’t him. That was the stumbling block she was expected to overlook. She wasn’t doing well so far.

The clone was similar to the one who broke her heart in other ways and he proved it with his next words.

‘You miss him’.

What could she say to that? It was the truth, but it would hurt him. She settled for a non committal sigh and made the mistake of looking up.

His dark eyes captivated her throwing her into a maze of memories out of which she could not escape, and she wasn’t quite sure she wanted to. His eyes were the ever-present image, eyes so dark and full of knowledge that Rose felt they could see into her very soul.

‘Rose!’ the clone Doctor spoke a little more sharply this time.

‘I – I’m just going to get a drink’ she stuttered.

Before she could make her escape he grabbed her hand.

‘Rose, tell me what’s wrong! I’m worried about you.’

Upon hearing his kind tone she softened.

‘I know you are, and I appreciate it, but you have to leave me be.’ With that she walked to the kitchen, tossing her long blonde hair behind her.

At times she wondered whether being with the clone was a good idea. I t was good for her to have someone who could be with her, always, and love her. But at the same time she hated him for reminding her constantly of what she had and what she’d lost.

‘Rose, why are you crying?’

Pulling herself back to the present, Rose found the clones hands on her cheeks, wiping away her tears. Unconsciously, she had started crying.

‘It’s okay, it’s all right, I love you.’

Suddenly Rose knew the perfect, very true reply.

‘I love you, too’.

Maybe she shouldn’t wonder whether the clone was a blessing or a curse, she shouldn’t depress herself. For now, everything won’t be good or bad, it will simply be.
