A/N: My first Itasaku.:) I hope everyone likes it.:)
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.
Uchiha Itachi never knew the word humiliating. That is, until his two arms were broken along with his jaw during an ANBU test all because of a pink-haired chuunin.
Rating: T
Warning: OOC, Non-massacre
Lovestruck
Uchiha Itachi never expected the day that he would see stars during a seemingly harmless, for him, ANBU test. But apparently, riling up one of the nominees was not such a good idea.
It turned out as a normal day, of course. He had woken up early even for a ninja and had started to train from dawn and continued ‘til the afternoon. After all, he wasn’t due for the testing until later.
He still had time for some lunch and a quick shower.
Proceeding to the Uchiha estate, he greeted his mother who was humming contently while cooking his favorite miso soup. On the way up to his room, he passed by his younger brother.
“Nii-san.” He heard the younger version of him mutter in greeting.
Itachi turned to him. He looked like he was about to go out to train. It was only four years ago when his brother had made it into jounin. And now, at the age of nineteen, he proved to be infamous for his efficiency during missions. It was only a matter of time before he was selected for ANBU.
He still trained with his genin team. It wasn’t a surprise when the clan elders had disapproved but they could do nothing when Sasuke threatened to leave the clan if they force him to leave Team Kakashi.
In all actuality, Itachi didn’t know why the clan elders would want him to leave such a strong team. It consisted of the copy-nin, Hatake Kakashi; the lost son of the fourth Hokage, Uzumaki Naruto and the apprentice of the Fifth, Haruno Sakura. They were all famous personalities in their team it was a wonder why didn’t rose through the ranks easily.
Itachi decided that he would not visit his father for the afternoon with the excuse that he was needed by ANBU. It wasn’t a lie.
After showering and dressed in his ANBU garb, he went to the kitchen to his happy mother. She was cooking his favorite meal before his shower and sure enough it was there set on the kitchen table with a bowl of rice.
He quickly ate all before moving quickly to leave. He was due at HQ in a few minutes.
“Find a girlfriend while you’re out Itachi!” His mother mused before he had completely lost sight of the estate.
His mother was always like this. She hadn’t gone tired of trying to set him up with a particular female. And she always went for the influential ones, if he might add. It was slightly undermining to find that you have to depend on your mother to find you a potential girlfriend. Not that he couldn’t find one for himself, it’s just he didn’t have time.
Uchiha men were all lookers. Not a single one of them was described as ugly but none of them really had the time to ponder upon such things as ridiculous as relationships, so each one had to depend on another in finding ‘the one’.
Itachi found it strange that he couldn’t find a single female that he was willing to date among his hordes of admirers. When he had gained power and grown even more handsome along the years, the number of women struck by his mysterious charm grew in numbers but still, all throughout these twenty-five years, Uchiha Itachi admits that he is… a virgin.
Not even a single time did he try to seek pleasure in the arms of even a hired female. It was disgusting to him. How men could simply just do it with someone they didn’t even know. It was slightly callous as to how they would pay them cheaply as well.
He had already arrived at ANBU HQ. He had first wondered why they would use their headquarters as testing grounds for all of the aspiring nins who wanted to become one of them but as he joined their ranks at the tender age of thirteen, he had learned that they cast a jutsu upon those who fail, immediately erasing all knowledge of the place.
At first glance, you’d be surprised at the normality of the place. It was like an ordinary office. A receptionist here and an office there. Everything was in order. Except that in this particular place, even the janitors knew how to kill a man just by snapping their necks.
He entered the room where the applicants had been instructed to stay. It was large, an arena of some sort. A battlefield located in the middle while a small office was located at the side. It was the place where the higher-ups of ANBU would be situated.
The test was simple enough as well. You had to fight with a recent member of ANBU. It didn’t matter if you win or lose, though most of the applicants rarely won, as long as you had exhibited a good amount of your skills and the rest of the evaluation would be left for their audience.
Itachi, he was proud to say, was one of the few applicants who had won against their assigned match. He was set up against a man code-named Yamato. Of course he knew it wasn’t his real name. He knew that every member were assigned an alias the moment they were initiated in their ranks.
It wasn’t easy. The man had many tricks up his sleeve. An earth-jutsu user, Itachi mused. It was the only element he had trouble getting in touch with, coincidentally enough.
He observed the small number of shinobi grouped together. He could see around ten, in all. He could see a few who had taken the exams before, opting for another try. He could also see a male Hyuuga chatting with a pink-haired kunoichi though the conversation seemed to be going one-sidedly. The pink-haired kunoichi would bring up a topic and the Hyuuga would nod his consent. It wasn’t really being polite but if perhaps the topic really was that uninteresting, he figured that was the most he could probably do at the moment without outwardly expressing his distaste and be deemed as rude.
The girl was influential. He knew that much. Tsunade’s apprentice, but of course, this particular tidbit of information could do nothing to curve the outcome of the ANBU tests.
He remembered that this girl was also his brother’s teammate. The weakest one in the team. She wouldn’t pass, that much was obvious. He hoped she wouldn’t take it hard. She should expect as much anyway.
He looked at the list and recalled that the Hyuuga was already a jounin for a few years. A feat to be chosen for ANBU despite lack of experience. He must be that good. He hoped that he would be the on to be paired up with him. It wasn’t only because of their family rivalry, it was also because he enjoyed challenges, a very strange characteristic of his.
Itachi frowned when he found out that Hyuuga Neji was to be fighting Hatake Kakashi. The man had just been reinstated into ANBU. It was probably because they wanted him to keep an eye on Danzou. Everyone knew that the old man was up to no good and he was bound to initiate his plans sooner or later.
Itachi raised an eyebrow at who he was paired up to fight with. The pink-haired chuunin. It was slightly disappointing to find out that he was going to fight only a chuunin. At his level, they should’ve known that she would have no chance. He would just probably knock her out with a genjutsu. Easy enough.
The first was between a hairy boy with a dog in his arms. One of Sasuke’s friends he figured, since they looked about the same age. He had lost, miserably if he might add. Though his tracking skills were something to commend, his attacks were weak. He would probably get in during the next testing period.
After a few more matches, Itachi was slightly surprised with the information that even the Hyuuga had lost. It had been a close fight, but Kakashi had outweighed him when it came to experience. But, he reckoned, the Hyuuga would surely be initiated during this period. Getting into ANBU with one try was an amazing accomplishment, especially if he happened to be only a jounin of few years.
“Haruno Sakura.” A voice called out through a microphone.
He saw the kunoichi enter the field with confidence that matched her mentor’s. It somehow made up for her lack in ability. At least she trusted herself enough to believe that she can win. Though, he would put a damper on those thoughts soon.
The girl looked at him strangely before smiling, “Uchiha-san!” She said with a grin, “I hope you’re feeling better.”
If Itachi and the rest of the ANBU who were testing them didn’t wear masks, they would sure look surprised. How could she have known it was him? His chakra was concealed perfectly and his mask covered the whole of his face. Itachi couldn't think of anyway she might've known it was him.
He heard the kunoichi giggle, “It’s your chakra, I can sense it but only a tiny spark. I noticed it was you since I’ve become familiar with your chakra signature because of all the times I’ve healed you.” She said before slipping on her black gloves.
Fine, she was sensitive to chakra. Probably even more sensitive than him but it was no big deal. It wouldn’t help her in a head to head fight.
“You should go home.”
The girl stopped flexing her fingers and stared at him with shock. What was so surprising about what he had said? Surely, she must know that a mere chuunin wouldn’t make it into ANBU. Even he had to go through jounin, even though it was just a few months, just to reach this level.
“Uchiha-san…” The voice seemed to hold an edge, but him being ignored it.
“Go home and train before coming here again.”
That had done it.
And now… here he was, lying on the floor at the arena of ANBU HQ, Bleeding, his jaw felt as if it was dislocated and his two once functioning limbs laid dead at his side, fractured as well. Not to mention, he felt like he had experienced a mild concussion from that blow.
The fight was quick. Probably because had provoked her into killing him, she had attacked relentlessly. Chakra-filled fists hit his arms since he had used them to block his face and his leg bleeding from a rain of kunai. When he had let his arms down to use the sharingan, he hadn’t expected that she was already there to damage his very fragile jaw.
That was the last that had remembered from their very quick fight that he, painstakingly admitted, had lost.
He woke up a few hours later with a spinning head and thoughts of how he hadn’t detected her presence. The pink-haired kunoichi explained, as she healed him and apologized endlessly for the damaged she had caused, that the infused chakra in her fists also served as a form of camouflage since it enters the body and completely rid all detection of her signature.
And he had later found out, that she had been having extra speed training with that extremist Gai and his strange student Lee. Not even he, was crazy enough to go to them to train.
This girl, with all her determination and sacrifice (she trained with Gai) would definitely get into ANBU hands down. And as much as his ego refuses to admit, she had beaten him literally to a pulp and deserved it.
As he lay there on the floor, his eyes seeing spots appearing here and there while being healed by the talented medic-nin, he asked a question that only now he had thought he should be bothered with, “Kunoichi, what’s your name?”
He saw her blink once before resuming her work, “Haruno Sakura.”
He immediately scanned his mind for any connection that he had with her and… he came up with none, except that she was his brother’s teammate. She wasn’t in his, dare he call it, fan club. Strangely enough.
And another thought had struck him. It wasn’t really needed. She was just an acquaintance. His brother’s teammate and in turn probably could be considered his younger sisters since their age differed by six years but he thought it wouldn’t be so bad as to ask this heart-stopping question from the only woman who had ever bloodied him up this badly by striking him with just one hand, “Sakura-san, would you like to go out to dinner?”
Even though his hearing was slightly off and his sight, rather blurry, he could faintly see one of the ANBU nin turn to the man beside him and say the words, “Whoever knew Uchiha was such a masochist.”
A/N: Well, that's it.:)) Please tell me what you think.:)
Jeje-chan:)
