A drabble is a 100 word piece of writing. It's an exercise in discipline to try and keep as close as possible to that limit.

In some misguided attempt to make himself look older, more sophisticated, and (presumably) more attractive to my Bella, Mike Newton had decided to update his appearance. If the bad-boy leather jacket and shades weren't bad enough, his hair had been slicked back with copious amounts of gel. He thought he looked cool. I thought he looked like he'd dunked his head in a deep-fat fryer.

I tightened my arm around Bella's waist, hiding a smile at her expression. I didn't need to be able to read her mind to know what she was thinking right now. Her horrified grimace spoke volumes.
