"Really? Yeh, that's great!" Kagome sighed as she listened to Houjo ramble on about something or other.

Her friends had done it again. She had made it very clear that she didn't want to go on another date with Houjo, but of course they ignored her requests and set her up with him again anyway.

She didn't know what her friends saw in him. Sure, he was a nice guy, but he was plain and boring, just like the vanilla ice cream he was eating. Now Inuyasha, nothing was boring about him and she doubted there ever would be.

Thinking of Inuyasha brought a smile to her face. She looked over to Houjo and of course he thought the smile was for him and he blushed, returning the smile.

"Hey Kagome, how is your ice cream? You havn't touched any of it." He asked with that goofy grin on his face.

"Oh, it's great." Kagome sighed out as she took a bite of her vanilla ice cream that Houjo had picked out for her. She would have rather had some Ben & Jerry's Phish Food if it had been her choice.

Yes, he was plain alright. She really hoped the date would be over soon, Inuyasha was waiting for her and she didn't want to keep him waiting to long, he would most definately come looking for her if she didn't hurry up.

Just then a flash of red and silver appeared and there stood Inuyasha with an evil glint in his eye.

"Kagome, who is this?" Houjo asked as he stared at the hanyou. He had never seen anyone like him. He was in a strange outfit and all that silver hair just had Houjo confused and intrigued. The thing that puzzled him most of all was how Kagome knew such a person.

"Actually Houjo, this is Inuyasha. He is my boyfriend." Kagome announced, happy she was going to get away from this plain boy, but kind of sad because she had to finally break his heart and she didn't want to do that to him. He had always been kind to her afterall.

Inuyasha just stared at the clueless boy. He was actually enjoying the look of horror on the boy's face as Kagome told him that he was her boyfriend.

"Boyfriend?! But I thought..." Houjo stammered out.

"I'm her boyfriend, got a problem with that?" the hanyou growled out.

"C'mon Kagome lets get out of here." Inuyasha said with an annoyed tone in his voice.

"Bye Houjo, I hope that we can still be friends." the girl said as she took the arm of the the hanyou and walked away.

Houjo just sat there looking forlorn as he watched the girl of his dreams stroll away with the exotic looking man. He didn't understand what was going on and he was determined to find out.

Later at the shrine...

"Hey Kagome, what's a boyfriend?" Inuyasha innocently asked.
