A/N: This story will be very short. I’m also sorry if I haven’t been updating my other stories as of yet, it’s just that I’m trying to finish Apocalypse and I just did this because I know that I won’t get it out of my system, if I don’t.

This was intended to be a three chapter story but since I managed to fit it all in once chapter... It'll just be a oneshot.

Warning: AU, OOCness

Disclaimer: I don’t own Gakuen Alice.

Heaven and Hell

Promises are meant to be Broken

A brown-haired girl looked at the stars with a smile set upon her lips while the raven-haired young man observed her.

He smiled as well. Because of this, he was sure her smile was contagious and he was sure it made him want to be with her forever.

Mikan…” He thought to himself, “Mikan… Hyuuga.”

He mentally reprimanded himself for acting like a lovesick teenager.

Natsume Hyuuga calmly thought about the future of their love. Will it be happy? Or will it even happen?

He shook his head. Of course it would! He would make it happen, no matter what.

Well, if it did happen, he was sure that it was going to be a happy future.

They would have children, as many as they wanted. Well, as many as she wanted. Natsume wanted to laugh at the thought but decided against it since she might think he was strange.

Poverty wasn’t a problem, him being the son of a wealthy businessman surely ended the possibilities of a poor lifestyle. He would give her anything she wanted and in exchange, she would make him the happiest man in the world.

He could still remember the first time that they met. It was on the night of New Year’s Eve. They had met by the lake where the fireworks display was to take place, it was as if the Gods wanted them to be together… and of course, who was he to disappoint them?

“Mikan, let’s go. It’s getting cold.” He told her as he stood up coolly and offered her a hand.

She accepted it and pulled herself up. As he began to walk away, she spared one last glance at the stars and suddenly said, “Natsume… Let’s make a promise.” She said with a tone of determination.

He didn’t answer. She took this as a sign to continue her words. After all, he was never a talker and she loved him for it because it meant that he was truly listening to her.

“I want you to promise me… That we’ll never be apart… that you’ll never leave me behind.” She said quietly.

“What’re you saying? You’re acting like I’m going away.” Natsume said, amused by the whole situation. Well, at least he knew that she loved him as much as he loved her.

She took a deep breath and said, “I’m completely serious.”

Natsume let out a sigh and embraced her from behind, “Of course, I’ll never leave you behind… No matter what happens to us, even if... all the world is to end, I’ll never leave you.” He told her, his voice never wavering.

Mikan stayed there… in his arms, not wanting to leave the warmth that his body exuded. He was her heaven and she was his.

Police cars were everywhere. Screaming and the intoxicating smell of tragedy hung in the air. It was all Mikan Sakura could handle as she finally broke down due to the emotional effects of the death of her beloved Natsume Hyuuga.

“We were going to get married… We were going to live together…” She kept muttering in her delirium until she finally gave in to the calming and yet still frightening unconscious world, frightening because the moment you wake, you realize everything isn’t a dream, not even a nightmare.

The police officers shook their head in pity at the young girl who was now being carried in a stretcher towards the ambulance due to shock.

“What happened to the man?” One of the police officers asked his partner, the one who had witnessed the scene.

“Apparently, the driver of the truck that had hit his car was drunk.” He said, not needing to explain further.

The other officer nodded in grim understanding. Car accidents were never pretty, especially accidents of this caliber but he’s never seen an accident this bad.

The man named Natsume Hyuuga was now nothing but shattered bones in a bloody heap that was formerly a functioning human body. It was indeed pitiful but the moment that his lover had walked in the scene, it suddenly became too painful to even watch.

The woman began to sob without end. It was depressing and the two officers in charge could do nothing but watch the woman in despair over the death of her love.

---

“I’m sorry mom, dad…” Mikan Sakura said as she began to lightly write her letter saying goodbye.

“I’m really sorry…” She continued while silent tears fell from her eyes.

She kept muttering apologies under her breath, some addressed to her friends while most were addressed to her parents.

Her tears never stopped falling, smudging her face.

She placed the letter in an envelope and placed it on her dresser, where she was sure someone would find it.

It’s time…” She thought.

She looked at the white bottle, judging whether it would be a wise decision and if it was worth it.

She glanced at the picture at her bedside table. The picture of her and Natsume enjoying a picnic, then she felt assured that this was the right thing to do.

It was their promise, to be together forever and she would make sure that not even death would tear them apart. It was a gamble but she wouldn’t lose because she trusted him and she knew that he wouldn’t let her down.

With a new kind of determination, she opened the lid of the little white bottle.

Natsume Hyuuga, the man who died because of drunk driving was now at heaven. At first he was hesitant to believe that the place he was at was actually the paradise that they called heaven since there were only clouds.

He was judged of course and they thought that he was good enough to deserve a place beside God.

They never did anything, if you’re wondering and that was the part that he hated the most. Despite this, he felt contentment in the clouds as if nothing could go wrong.

Then he remembered his lover. He was against on leaving her behind, telling St. Peter, the angel at the gates of heaven, to let him go back, even if he has to live crippled for his entire life, just so he could be with her.

But the angel merely shook his head in disagreement. It wasn’t possible for things to happen that way.

As he was lounging about the clouds, an angel approached him with a solemn look.

“Mr. Hyuuga?” The angel asked for confirmation.

“Yes?” He replied, suddenly a feeling of dread began to consume him. This angel was the bringer of bad news and he knew it.

“Your lover… She had just killed herself…” He said, sadness taking over his usual serene face.

Natsume couldn’t believe it. Mikan had killed herself? Was it because of him? Was it because of his sudden death that she had done something so ludicrous and stupid?

He was in shock and the angel knew this as well.

“That’s not the worst part,” The angel began once more, he had to say everything at once or else he would only get more furious when he finds out later, he knew this first hand, “It’s a well-known fact that people who commit suicide are automatically sent to hell without judgment.”

Suddenly, as if the angel had done something terrible, Natsume attacked him.

Tearing his wings apart, punching him and kicking him. Anything he could think of to make him experience the emotional carnage he was experiencing.

Mikan Sakura was on the floors of the fiery deep, crying as her skin burned at the intense heat radiating from the place itself.

Hell.

Like they had described, it was as hot as the sun, possibly even hotter. It wasn’t ugly nor beautiful. It was plain and that itself made it look hideous to her eyes. The floors lined with criminals who may or may not have killed a person in their past lives.

Even though the pain was too much, this wasn’t the reason she was crying for. It was because she wasn’t with the person she loved, namely Natsume Hyuuga.

She hadn’t known that people who killed themselves were sent to the fiery deep along with the other sinner who could not see the light of salvation any longer. It was all a misunderstanding. She just wanted to be with the man she loved, safe and protected in his arms.

“Mikan, don’t cry.” A familiar voice behind her said.

She looked up to see the face that had haunted her dreams once before, the man that she died for, Natsume. But it was impossible for it to be him, he was in heaven and this was obviously not heaven, it was the complete opposite, hell.

She shook her head, wishing that the illusion would just go away.

“You’re not real.” Her voice wavered.

“If I’m not real, can I do this?” He said as he kissed her, whisking her away to a land of bliss even in the depths of hell itself, an amazing feat indeed.

“Natsume?” She quietly said unsure.

“Remember my promise?” He said in a voice that was laced with securing warmth, that still felt comfortable in the heat of hell, “Nothing can separate us…” He smiled at her even though she could see the pain he was experiencing, “Not even heaven and hell.”

A/N: Well, that’s it.

Please tell me what you think.:)
