This “series” will really be a collection of one-shots that I’ll be writing in the coming weeks that are based off of A Fine Frenzy’s One Cell in the Sea. Each one-shot will be inspired by a different track from the CD. At the beginning of each of the stories, I’ll put a summary and what ship it has so you know. Most of the one-shots will be Edward/Bella, but there will also be some Jasper/Alice, Esme/Carlisle and Emmett/Rosalie.

“Come on, come out
The weather is warm…
Come on, come out
Said come on, come on.
Watching the sky,
Watching a painting coming to life.
Shaping and shifting, staying inside
It all goes by, it all goes by.”
- “Come On, Come Out”, A Fine Frenzy

The preparations for this wedding seemed endless. Even though Alice had promised she would take care of everything, I had felt guilty for not offering my help with planning my own ceremony. Even though I was really only a hindrance to her plots, she had welcomed me into her scheming with enthusiasm and had made me promise that today we would get some more done.
I had gotten up earlier than usual this morning and finding myself alone in my bedroom, decided to head over to the Cullen’s house earlier than promised. Edward hadn’t left a note, but then again he knew I was heading to Alice’s this morning and I did vaguely recall him telling me something he had to do today. I yawned as I climbed into my truck and my mind wandered as I drove slowly to meet up with Alice.
When I arrived, I was surprised to find the house completely empty except for the always chipper Alice and several dozen bridal magazines. Before I could even properly greet her she promptly informed me that we would have the house to ourselves until 12:47 PM when Edward and the rest of the boys would get back from their tuxedo fittings and she intended to make the most of our time alone to make as many decisions as possible.
I sat down at the kitchen table and tried not to feel overwhelmed at the colossal stacks of magazines in front of me. I had the sinking feeling that if Alice had her way I would be looking through every single one of them before the day was over.
“We need to make our final decisions about just about everything that you want at the reception today,” Alice launched into a quick run-down of what she wanted me to do and I did my best to keep up with her frenzied tone. She pushed a hefty stack of the magazines toward me and instructed me, “Look through these and choose your top two table decorations, okay?”
I nodded, speechless at the thought of actually looking through all of the thick catalogues in front of me. I picked up the first of them and started to thumb through the countless pages of dresses before reaching the comparatively smaller section on decorations. I stared blankly at the white frills and plastic bells without really absorbing any of it before discarding the magazine and moving onto the next. Hours passed in a similar fashion but by lunchtime, Alice and I had only made a single decision: there would be no fake doves adorning anything at this wedding.
At some point without me noticing, Alice had ordered pizza for my lunch and I smiled gratefully when it arrived, only aware of how hungry I was when I saw it. I was just polishing off my last piece when I heard the front door of the house open and close. I had barely swiveled in my chair to see who was coming in before he was at my side. I smiled brightly at him, thankful to see him after so many boring hours. He took my face gently in his hands and kissed me softly, but eagerly. I sighed as he pulled away and he stroked my cheek tenderly before throwing a smirk towards the pile of discarded magazines in front of me.
“How has your day been so far?” I asked, still a little dizzy from his kiss. Before he could answer, Jasper and Emmett had bounded into the room, laughing loudly about something. Alice rose to meet Jasper and was soon laughing along with them, sufficiently distracted for the moment.
Edward suddenly leaned into me and whispered softly into my ear, “Come on, come out with me.” He rose fluidly from his seat and held out his hand for me to take. I grabbed it without a thought but as we were walking out the door I remembered what I was supposed to be doing today.
“I should be helping Alice,” I moaned softly, fighting internally about whether or not to go back into the house to the endless supply of bridal catalogues. Edward laughed softly and wrapped his arms around me, guiding me towards his car and effectively making my decision for me. I reveled in the slight chill that rushed through me even as the warm sunlight peeked through the now lifting clouds.
“I think Alice can handle it all by herself for a few hours, don’t you?” Edward coaxed me, his voice deeper than usual. I uttered a small squeak of agreement in the back of my throat as he punctuated his words with several feathery kisses along my neck. I felt his lips curve into a smile against my skin and he unwound himself from me to open his car door for me. I climbed in grateful for the quick opportunity to clear my head of his debilitating effect on my speech.
As he climbed into the driver’s seat and turned his key in the ignition faster then I could even make out, I managed to ask teasingly, “And where do you think you’re taking me?” He smiled at me in that way that should be illegal and took a long moment before answering.
“We haven’t been to the meadow in a while,” he suggested softly, his voice sounding almost hesitant. My head snapped to him in surprise and I swallowed as images of the last time we had visited the meadow popped into my head. I blushed fiercely and focused my eyes determinedly on the road ahead of us, but I nodded. I wasn’t really opposed to the idea after all, I just hoped he wouldn’t feel the need to seduce me again because I knew that this time I wouldn’t be able to push him away like last time.
Since that last day in the meadow, Edward’s kisses had become a little less careful every time he kissed me and now it was me who was pulling away and having to remind him breathlessly that we decided to wait. He always nodded in agreement but that hadn’t stopped him from pushing the boundaries a little farther with each of his drugging kisses.
I didn’t even realize we’d arrived at the end of the road that led to the forest until he opened my door and took my hand to pull me up. I blinked and shook my head, squeezing his hand as I climbed out and followed him to the edge of the trees where he swung me onto his back. I let out a loud giggle at the sensation of being thrown so gently onto his back and he smiled, kissing me hand, before taking off at breakneck speed through the trees.
I kept my eyes open the whole way, wondering what it would feel like when I finally got to run like this. When we reached the meadow, I didn’t hop down like I usually did, instead I held onto him as he slowed to a walk. I hugged myself closer to him and I felt him breath in my scent deeply which sent a thrill through me.
He walked us slowly to the center of the meadow before setting me gently down in the grass. I sighed and stretched out in the grass, closing my eyes lazily. I felt him lay down beside me and I snuggled up to his cold chest happily.
His fingers brushed through my hair lightly and I drifted in and out of consciousness for a long while. I yawned after a while and his chest rumbled loudly under me with his laughter. I grinned up at him and chastely kissed him. One of his hands reached up to cup my cheek while the other was still twisted in my hair.
I pulled back to study his face and he let out a small sigh.
“We haven’t been alone together in so long,” he commented softly, his fingers twirling the ends of my hair thoughtlessly.
“I know. I feel like I hardly know you,” I teased, pushing him backwards so that he was fully lying down again. He smiled at me, his eyes alight with the same warm giddiness that bubbled inside of me. I propped myself onto an elbow and used my other hand to trace his features as lightly as I could.
His eyes slid close in contentment and I continued to run my fingertips over his cool lips and pale cheeks. I traced along his cheekbone, his jaw, and his eyelids until I finally stopped, content to just look at his beauty as he relaxed.
He truly was a piece of art to me. A living, breathing piece of art. His copper hair was ever so carefully disheveled and his golden eyes caught the sunlight perfectly as he opened them to see why I had stopped.
His lips turned upward and he grasped my hand in his, intertwining our fingers. I lay my head down on his stomach and shifted so that I could keep watching his face as I drifted off again into a light nap.
I awoke to Edward calling my name softly. I opened my eyes, disoriented at first, until I sat up and found myself among the grass of the meadow. I stretched out my arms and shook off my sleepiness as best I could, realizing with a start that it was getting dark all around us. Edward seemed to know exactly what I was thinking.
“I should get you home before Charlie sends out his entire squad on me,” he remarked with a lopsided grin and jumped up from the ground. I shook my head in denial and didn’t make any move to get up.
“Do we have to go?” I asked as pleadingly as I could even though I already knew what his answer would be. His eyes lit with a subdued amusement at my whining tone and he held out both of his hands to pull me up. I took them reluctantly and rolled my eyes as he tugged me upwards.
“These days always go by much too quickly, don’t they?” he murmured, pulling me close to him for a long, sweet kiss before picking me up so he could run us to his car. I pulled myself as close as I could to him and buried my face in his neck.
“They do,” I agreed with a sigh, my lips brushing against his icy skin as I formed the words. He turned his face to me for one last, quick peck before darting into the now dark forest that surrounded us.
