For those who may not know me, I'm SirJoshizzle. I've been here at Fanfiction since 2004 (though my first story seen on my profile came out in 2006; I deleted everything prior to that). I'm mainly in the Zelda section (of A World of Lies, Charm Bracelet, Sensei, and many Link/Zelda oneshots fame), with some stories for Final Fantasy X, Phoenix Wright/Gyakuten Saiban, and Bleach. More information on me is in my profile, and even more can be learned by asking me directly through my many contacts listed there.

If your a regular reader of mine, this may shock you: this isn't Link/Zelda! D: Every story of mine featuring Link up until now has been Link/Zelda. This time around, it's Link/Peach. See, I'm not too picky with my pairings and I'll read anything as long as it's written well regardless of pairings. Shame that people can't be as open minded. Anyway, while the romance isn't overt, you can tell by the narration (Link's point of view) that it's there. Just use your imagination; I know you all have it from your wonderful stories.

I do not own Super Smash Bros. Brawl, The legend of Zelda, or Mario.

Smile of a Butterfly

I don’t understand how the graceful Princess Peach’s smile could pack so much of a punch.

It might be an odd thing to say that I’m… jealous of her. I’m jealous of her openness around people. I’m one of the more introverted ones out of all of us. They know it. Even I know it. I don’t talk much. I’m a little bit more reserved in mixed company, and even around people I’m close with—even Zelda.

But Peach… She has the ability to befriend anyone—I’ll be hard-pressed to find out how the hell she got on Ganondorf’s good side. She’s never one to hold a grudge, no matter how despicable that person’s been to her. Bowser’s kidnapped her more times than I’ve had to save Zelda, I bet. Yet she somehow has the integrity to not hold it against him and talk with him as if nothing ever happened. Everyone likes her. Everybody loves her. Her ability to be so people-friendly is one that I… just don’t have.

She somehow always smiles. Like she’s gotten something implanted into her face that keeps her small lips curled into a smile. But it’s such a welcome change among us. Whenever any of us would be down, she’d put off whatever she was doing—even at the expense of herself—to take the time to cheer us up, no matter how long it took. And most of the time, it never took very long; all she had to do was smile. And what’s even more amazing was that she would never expect anything in return. Even if we offered to repay her for her selflessness, she’d just refuse… and smile.

Her smile is what makes her so enigmatic. You can never tell what she’s really thinking, because her smile covers it up. That’s probably how she seems so carefree all the time. Just when things get bad, there comes the smile. It takes a pro to learn how to do that. I don’t know how long it took her, but she’s obviously mastered the art of poker facing.

For someone who has so little to worry about, her mind sure is a bit too complex for its own good. Granted, I don’t know her very well. But when we’re talking and I’m trying to analyze what may be going through her head, there are just too many roads to go down, and dead ends impeding my explorations through her thoughts. I think it’s because… she just doesn’t think very much at all.

I think that’s it. She doesn’t worry. She doesn’t let anything bother her, though I’ll never know just how she does it. It’s her levelheadedness that keeps her an enigma. She keeps all her problems bottled up, yet at the same time bottles them in a manner that doesn’t interfere with her life.

Her mind is a perfect world where nothing goes wrong She doesn’t let anything that may taint that perfect wold in. And every now and then she gives us a taste of it, as if to remind us that whatever we worry about or whatever is bothering us just isn’t worth all the effort to worry or get bothered over. She’s like a butterfly: she’s always shaking free of any problems or inhibitions, and she floats off into the distance, sharing everything beautiful she’s discovered with everyone she meets.

I don’t smile very often. I only smile genuinely with Zelda, because she’s without a doubt the closest one to me out of everyone else. My lips would curl upwards a little whenever we would get together and just hang out, but that’s probably about it.

But Peach is probably the only person other than Zelda who’s really seen me smile. And I didn’t even notice that I was until she giggled in that wispy voice of hers and pointed it out to me. And it felt so natural. I don’t think it was because of her being a princess, or my tendency to be polite around people of status like her or Zelda. It was just because of her. Her caring smile and the passing glimpse of the perfect world she withdraws to.

I want to know what it’s like in there. Inside the mind of the Princess Peach. I’ve never met someone quite like her. And Mario and all those Toads are lucky to have someone like her around. To have her caring personality, her forgiving nature, and of course, her beautiful smile.

If you're going to wander around my personal catalog, then I highly suggest my Zelda fics A World of Lies, Sensei (which is nominated for a 2007 UFO Award!), Indelible, Just a Little Bit, Kisuhajime, Omoidashite Kudasai, and The Antithesis of Academic Perfection. I especially recommend them if you love Link/Zelda as much as I do (because it's such a canon pairing, and no one does romance better than those two). If you like Bleach (and the Ichigo/Orihime pairing), then Walk Me Home is a good one as well.

I've also got my upcoming Zelda fic Circles coming up (which is Zelda fanfiction's first courtroom thriller, by the way). You can read about that in my blog, which is linked in my profile. You can even read the special prologue and an excerpt from recently completed chapter seven which contains some Link fanservice, just for my female readers. :) Hey my lovely Zelda readers, I'll be revealing the publishing date for Circles in just a matter of time. Keep it lovely 'til then, and leave a review if that tickles your fancy.

Enjoy Life and Smile.
