A/N: My first Prince of Tennis Story. Please criticize me on anything if you must because I haven’t exactly watched the whole series so criticism is welcome.
As for the pairings, I’ll just surprise you.

I Guess I Love You
It was a lovely day for a game of tennis but unfortunately for the Seigaku men’s team they weren’t going to the ones playing for today because for today, the women were the ones in control.
Ah, the women’s team, strangely unknown to the whole school, they were a very talented bunch. It was just unlucky of them to be in the same batch as the current Men’s team for their continuous victories were always overshadowed by the men’s grueling matches which sometimes resulted in a much more interesting drama but it seems today, they were the ones to be noticed because it seems that most of the students were here to watch their practice match against St. Rudolph.
Sakuno Ryuuzaki had managed to make it into regulars because she had decided to abandon her post as a cheerleader and concentrated on her tennis and with the captain’s help she became one of the best doubles players in their team. She was usually paired with the captain herself or with the vice-captain.
Right now, it was Doubles 1 match and it was between, The Namida twins of Seigaku and the best pair of St. Rudolph but with all due respect to St. Rudolph, their butts were seriously being kicked. The score was 4-1 and they only won one set because one of the twins was bitten by a mosquito and couldn’t stop scratching herself, a pretty lame way to win if you ask anyone.
“Go Seigaku! You can do it! By the way, where’s Fuji?” Eiji has been… well, eiji. If you don’t get what I mean, I meant that he’s overly hyper at the prospect of winning. Yes, that it and so was Momo. He’s been cheering non-stop since the beginning of the practice games while the visitors from St. Rudolph glared daggers at them.
“He’s with his brother and Tezuka is watching with Coach Ryuuzaki.” Oishi said as he watche the match.
Well, Seigaku obviously won hands down. It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that St. Rudolph was going to be beaten to the ground if they lost the first match this badly and the next match was between, Sakuno Ryuuzaki, Aika Takami and another pair from St. Rudolph.
“That’s the captain.” Inui said as he began to scan his notes.
“Hey, Inui how come they’re going to let their captain play so early in the game?” Momo asked a bit taken aback by the fact.
“The women’s team has always been known for their quick wins, I guess this is the reason. Not to mention their captain plays overly brutal games, I guess their coach is using Sakuno as some kind of neutralizer for the captain’s actions.” Inui explained.
“Neutralizer?” Momo asked a bit curious as how the shy girl could be used as something like that.
“She’s the favorite of their captain and the older girl considers what only Sakuno says.” Inui answered.
“So she’s that important on their team.” Oishi said as he looked at the girl sporting two long braids enter the court.
The team of St. Rudolph were already waiting and visibly shaking.
“I guess they heard the news of the captain.”Inui shrugged.
A much taller girl entered the court, she had long black hair that wasn’t even tied up and deep black eyes.
“Must be the captain.” Eiji said as he observed her intimidating air. He literally felt something from the taller female that made him shiver, the only person whoever made him this insecure was their captain.
“I wonder if all captains has a need to be excruciatingly creepy…” Momo thought as he compared Tezuka and the girl and he could see why she was chosen as captain. But that’s another story, besides he could literally feel Tezuka staring holes into his being.
Now, back to the game. Seigaku had been winning with Sakuno taking net play and the captain taking the back but something quite unexpected happened. The ball flew into the air.
“Out.” Sakuno said silently but they could see the movement of her lips.
Then, the ball suddenly dropped landing on the baseline.
“What the hell…” Their captain didn’t finish what she was about to say because one of St. Rudolph’s players began to smirk, only for it to be wiped off her face with the captain’s glare.
She slowly pulled Sakuno a little farther and whispered something into her ear. Sakuno looked like she was about to protest but a shake of the captain’s head silenced her.
“It’s your time to shine Sakuno, besides, I’m sure you can do it.” The older girl said with a smile and an assuring nod.
The game resumed Seigaku still leading with two to one. St. Rudolph’s players were getting ready for another attack.
“Now Sakuno!” The captain said as she rushed to the front and began to bend her knees making her only slightly taller than the net itself. A look of hesitation crossed Sakuno’s features but only a nod from her superior had removed her of her doubts as she ran towards her captain and launched herself towards the high-flying ball using their captain as her support.
Everyone gasped as they watched the ball being forcefully smashed down right in front of the net and bouncing out of the court faster than Sakuno could fall… Wait, Sakuno was falling and the captain was still there.
Ryoma was thinking twice about entering the court and catching the girl but ended his thoughts as he saw their captain catch the girl instead it was a dangerous trick but he had to admit it, Sakuno did a pretty good job.
“Are you okay?” Aika asked as she carefully let Sakuno down and gave her a warm smile.
“I’m fine. Thank you.” Sakuno said with the same gentle voice.
“Maybe the next time, I should be the one who’s going to jump. You might injure yourself trying to do this.” Aika chuckled as she began to mess with Sakuno’s long braids.
She bent down to be eye level with Sakuno and smirked. “Now... How many times have I told you? You shouldn’t braid your hair. I like it just the way it is.” She said as she began to pull on one of the long braids.
“But…” Sakuno sighed and just nodded, she didn’t know how this girl could suddenly return her to her old ways.
St. Rudolph was getting pissed, they didn’t want to lose this, they had a perfectly clean slate and this was going to ruin it.
Fuko Ayaka, player of St. Rudolph, smirked. She certainly knew one way on how to make this disgustingly sweet pair crumble.
It was St. Rudolph’s service game and Fuko Ayaka was going to serve. The ball was a fast one but it could still be hit by Sakuno at the net but the ball swerve and hit her wrist. She bit her lip to keep her whimpers of pain down as she dropped her racket to the ground.
“Hey! That was totally unfair play!” Eiji shouted towards the ref but he didn’t listen.
“Sakuno, are you okay?” Aika asked as she observed the wrist which was now swollen and had began to grow in size.
“I’m fine.” Sakuno said as she smiled shyly.
“No, you’re not. You can’t play.” Aika said with a serious look, her captain’s aura completely returning to her.
“But, we can’t lose this. You’re already playing for Doubles 2 so Singles 3 is a lose if Singles 2 loses.” Sakuno argued with a determined face.
Aika sighed.
“She’s okay. Just a little cooling spray.” She said as she proceeded to her bag and took out what was needed.
“I’ll take net play. I’ll prevent any shots that might go at the back if I can but if one goes through, I want you to use your left hand okay. It’s not as strong but hopefully we can manage to bring it back even with just a lob.” Aika explained professionally as she began to wrap Sakuno’s wrist in sports tape.
Sakuno placed a hand on her captain’s shoulder. “Don’t worry. I can do this. This is what I’ve been training for.” She said, completely losing her shy demeanor.
Aika let out another sigh. “Whatever you say, but for this, Ayaka’s going down.” She said as she examined her wrist one last time and threw the tape and the cooling spray towards their vice-captain.
“They’re not going to forfeit?” Oishi asked looking at the taped wrist.
“Obviously, but Sakuno-chan’s wrist is going to get hurt even more!” Eiji said as he observed the purple color forming at the uncovered part of the tape.
Ryoma only watched on as he observed the girls movements. “Her wrist got injured.” He thought as he observed the other girl with her.
“Look, Inui-senpai! Aika looks ready to kill.” Eiji said as he observed the anger radiating from the girl.
It was still Ayaka’s service and she used a normal serve this time but she didn’t expect the ball to return so fast because the moment the ball reached the net, the ball was returned hitting Ayaka’s partner on the face.
Aika smirked.
“Just a little payback.” She said as she faced Sakuno but Sakuno didn’t seem to be too happy about it.
“Aika-senpai! How could you?” She asked a bit worried as she crossed the net checking the player for any injuries.
The older girl raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
The game went on without the violence of the two players and Seigaku won. Sakuno was pulled out by Eiji after shaking hands with the two players while her captain continued to the showers but before that, Sakuno could clearly recall the anger of her captain.
“Ms. Ayaka, you have disgraced this sport with your lack of sportsmanship. I simply refuse to acknowledge you as my equal.” Aika said as she retreated towards the showers
“Sakuno-chan! Your captain seemed pretty angry back there!” Eiji said as he checked her wrist.
“She was. She’s never that stern nor insulting during practice.” She said recalling all the times she had spent with the girl.
Ryoma approached Sakuno and said, “Mada Mada Dane.” He said as he began to take his leave.
Sakuno literally wanted to burst into tears at the phrase. After all, she had worked so hard and all she got was that stupid tagline of his. Ugh…
“He’s right, Sakuno-chan.” Aika came, she appeared to have just come from a nice refreshing shower while she bent down towards Sakuno-chan.
“You’ve still got ways to learn but for now, that was simply amazing.” She said as she smiled warmly at the girl, leaving the rest of the team confused about her real attitude and the young tennis prince slightly angered by the way she used his catch phrase to grab the attention of the younger girl away from him.
A/N: That was pretty long. Personally, I’ve wanted a FujixSakunoxTezuka but I’m still working out their attitudes. Sorry about that. People just have to make more of those! They’ve barely got any.
So, I guess this will be some sort of RyomaxSakuno fic but maybe I can still stick in that FujixSakunoxTezuka... Hopefully.
By the way, the oc won't have a pairing here I think. She's just there to heat things up. Ahahaha.
Please review and tell me what you think. Any for of criticism is welcome as long as it's about my grammar, spelling or the flow of the story.
