Me: Another DMC fic! This one is about Dante since I hadn’t really focus on him yet.
Vergil: Pft! You’re not making me do twincest are you?
Me: You should know by now I’m not into the whole twincest thing! Besides you’re not even in this fic.
Vergil: Why the hell not?!
Me: Cause it’s set after DMC 2 and Dante, Trish, Lucia and Lady lives together! Anyways, I don’t own Devil May Cry and any of its characters. Told in Lucia’s point of view.
If Only You KnewFunny how a person who loses his entire family can still smile. Losing your father and mother and not even knowing whether your brother is all right. But still managing to be his cheerful state. That’s always what I admire about him.
Dante was always playing around. At first meeting, you’d never would’ve guessed that he’s been through so much hurt. Trish may be tough on him, but she’s tough on all of us. She basically keeps us all in line. Lady is always sort of the fun child. She plays around with Dante but can listen and feel sympathy towards him. I’m probably the most quiet out of all of them. Sure I join them in some activities, but I’m not really the screaming and jumping type. I’d usually sit and watch their faces smile with glee. Just seeing them smile makes me happy. I wish that I could see their faces smile like that forever. But all good things come to an end….
It was about two weeks ago. I began to feel nauseas and weak, like lack of energy. Trish, Dante and Lady was always filled with energy, I probably always use the least anyways. So I thought everything was fine, I always get nauseas anyway.
But soon I began to cough continuously. I’m not sure why. I thought it was just something small but still I feel like I all my energy are draining out. During a demon-hunting spree like the usual, I began to lose concentration slowly. Then I collapsed to the ground. I remember blacking out for a while. Lady must have carried me away whilst Trish and Dante finish the job.
I thought it was no big deal. Dante actually began to stress about my health and condition. He wanted me to go to the doctors and get a check up. He was going to come with me but I didn’t even want to go. He booked an appointment for me for the next day. Unfortunately there was another job for that day so I finally convinced him that I could go alone.
The next day, Dante, Trish and Lady all left early in a rush. The place was actually a mess. I decided to clean and tidy up the place a bit before I go to the doctors. I picked up one of Dante’s jacket. Something fell out of it’s pocket. It was his coin. I stared at it for a bit. “That’s strange, he usually never leaves the place without his coin. Maybe he forgot.” I thought in my mind. I decided to just place it in my pocket and I headed to the doctors.
It was actually a pretty huge clinic. More like a hospital but you get the idea. I walked in pushing the double glass doors. They were a bit hard to push for me. I hate being weak I just wished I’d go back to my usual health again.
It was my turn to go to the doctor. He did a full check and multiple tests. He said that within an hour he should get the results. I knew everything would be fine. At that moment my cell phone rang. It was Dante. He asked to check if I was all right. I just told him “I’m great. I’m waiting for the tests results within one hour. I’m absolutely fine.” And her told me to call him again once I did get it back.
During the hour-long wait, I pulled out Dante’s coin and stare at it. He depends on it so much to make his decisions, but lately he stopped using it. So I flipped it “Heads: I’m absolutely fine, Tails: something unlikely is wrong with me.” I gambled. The coin landed on my hand and I placed my other hand over it. I was about to pull my hand away to see the result but immediately the doctor came back.
“The news is not good.” Said the doctor
Those words still ring in my head today. What could possibly be wrong? He handed me a large yellow envelope. I opened it and pulled out some sheets of paper. My blood results.
“I’ve even checked more than four times to make sure I wasn’t mistaken. Your blood results tells us that you have leukemia.” Said the doctors
“Huh?” I asked again not being able to face the truth. How could it be? I never get sick. I always heal myself. The doctor showed me my results.
“You’re chances of survival are almost none. I’m afraid you’re dying.” Said the doctor.
I dropped the papers in shock. “Is there any chance that this may be a mistake? Like the results aren’t mine?” I questioned again in horror. Tears began to form in my eyes.
“I’m afraid not. We never make mistakes here.” Said the doctor. I noticed his voice was filled with sympathy.
I remember that afternoon. After coming from the doctor’s I took a long walk at the park. I’ve taken everything for granted. But that was the last thing on my mind. I was afraid to tell Dante. He lost so many people in his life that I can’t make him go through more pain…. So I came back home hiding the envelope. Dante immediately ask me how it went. I simply told him ‘everything was fine like I said before’. I ran into my room and locked the doors not wanting to face him again. He’s done so much but all I do is lie to his face.
In my room I began to try to heal myself. It seems like it didn’t work. Can demons get sick? I never thought it was possible. Alas, I kept trying. It fails continuously and I was finally tired of it that I decided to sleep. I prayed that I wouldn’t wake up the next morning. I didn’t want to face the world.
I was still breathing the next couple of weeks. Although I knew my time was running short. I feel like I had to stop and rest more and just fighting the demons after 5 minutes tire me so badly. I often locked myself in the bathroom coughing up blood. Dante, Trish and Lady must’ve heard my cough as they knocked on the bathroom door. They ask me if I was okay and I told them it was just a cough.
It was early winter at that time and everything was snowing. Lady wanted to go out and play in the snow and Dante calls for snowball a fight with her. Trish decided to join me in peace sitting down and watching them play since she doesn’t like the cold very much. But it didn’t take long after Dante threw a huge one to Trish’s face and she took an oath to get him back badly.
I watched them play around happily. They were having so much fun. I looked at Dante, a man who’s lost all his family and found happiness with an entirely different people like Lady and Trish. I knew they would bring him happiness. I smiled as I clutched Dante’s coin tightly but something cold ran down my face. Was it tears? Why was I crying? I was still smiling but I couldn’t help the tears flowing down my face. I didn’t think it was possible for devils to cry. Although Lady proved with Dante that it was possible. But seeing the three of them so happy, I’ve decided to not tell them. I’ve decided that I was to leave I’d leave in peace.
It was then that my eyes began to shut. All I see is pitched black. I could hear Dante yelling my name and Lady screaming in horror. I couldn’t feel or hear anything after that, but I still clutched Dante’s coin tightly.
I tried to open my eyes weakly. I was in the hospital bed. I still held the coin in my right hand. Though my vision was all blurred, I see a tall figure in red. His face was covered in his silver flowing hair. His eyes stare deeply to mine. He knew now what was going on.
I feel a huge amount of guilt taking over my body. My mouth felt like it was about to burst out with words of apologies, but it was locked shut. My eyes began to close again, this time I knew it was for the last time. It shuts completely and I see nothing but light as I drew near it. All my thought are gone as I felt free. Except for one.
“If only you knew….”
Me: It’s lame isn’t it?
Vergil: Duh genius! Where am I?
Me: Aww hush! There might even be a sequel told in Dante’s point of view. Read and Review please guys! It means a lot to me if ya do!
