Author’s Note: A fic request from my cousin, Cass. Here you go, hun. Definitely not my best… but it is my shortest and fluffiest by far. This is a Derek/OC fic. If you have a crush on Derek, then please imagine yourself in the OC’s place. :) Enjoy!

Mutual

By StrikeBack

Oh how he hated her.

He hated the way she moved, spoke, looked, and smelled… he especially hated the way she bounced back from all of his pranks and insults with a better set of pranks and comebacks them he could have ever thought of.

Granted she was appealing. And clever.

She was very clever. Oh she was. But no one can beat him! He put the “e” in “evil”. The “d” in despicable. No girl could ever take his place has king (or queen, he thought) of pranks. He had already devised a plan to shake her, break her… annoy her. Destroy her, even!

He waited for her by her locker during seventh period. He knew her schedule… oh he knew alright, because they had the next class together. She was pulling out books out of her locker, a look of indifference on her face. Her hair was hanging on her back, covering half of her face. If she weren’t so annoying, he thought, I would totally find her hot right now.

He crept up behind her, slowly and silently. He had a water balloon in his hand and he was about to fling it in her direction when she suddenly turned and raised an eyebrow at him.

“If you’re going to stalk somebody, you might as well do it quietly.”

She looked over at the balloon in his hand and smirked. “God, Derek. What is wrong with you? A water balloon? Where’s your creativity?”

He blushed and rolled his eyes at her. “You think you’re so smart.”

“I know I’m smart. And I know you are too.”

He raised an eyebrow at her. “That’s not something I expected to hear from you.”

She nodded. “No, but I have to admit it’s true”—she cast him an amused look—“which is why, it’s so disappointing to see you with a ‘water balloon’ attack plan. It’s so fifth grade. And not at all you.”

He looked at strangely as she leaned into him and stared at his face. He felt his face heat up at the sight of her eyes, lips, skin… alright, he had to admit this girl was… attractive.

“How do you feel about me?” she asked, still staring at him.

His jaw clenched and his palms got sweaty. “I…” He cleared his throat and stepped away from her. “I don’t like you.”

She grinned and gave him a once over. His throat felt dry and his face felt hot and cold at the same time.

Before walking away to their next class, she did the unthinkable!

She looked at him again, smiled and leaned in for a kiss. It was a sweet kiss. Loving, even. He was surprised at first… but it didn’t bother him the least as he kissed back, holding her face in his hands.

She leaned away and gave him an amused smile.

“The feeling’s mutual, Derek. I don’t like you too.”

Then she patted him on the shoulder. And walked off towards their next class…

She stopped midway and looked at him expectantly. He was still rooted in his place.

“Aren’t you coming? We have one more period to go before we have to go out.” She grinned again as realization hit his face.

He grinned back and ran over to where she was, grabbing her hand in his and walking off together.

Okay, so he ‘hated’ her… and she ‘hated’ him too. For once it was nice to know that the feeling was mutual.

Author’s Notes: I bet it didn’t make sense! I’ll write a better one next time. :) Read and review!
