Disclaimer: I own Saleria, Salazar, Hellenia, and the altered plot! Everything else belongs to J.K.R.!!!
Prologue
It was at two thirty in the morning on May the twenty third that a tall woman snuck into Hogwarts School for witchcraft and wizardry. In each of her hands she held the hand of a three year old. Finally she came across the gargoyle that led to the headmaster’s office, here she paused.
“Please I must speak to Albus Dumbledore, let me pass. It is about the future of the wizarding world! Please I must speak to…” for five minutes the woman spoke before the gargoyle came to life and allowed her to go up the moving spiral staircase.
The headmaster was sitting at his desk and looked confused to see a woman coming to him with twin children at two forty five in the morning. “Tea?” the woman shook her head. “Have a seat Miss…”
“My name is Hellenia Jameson, I need your help.” The woman said, “These two are my children, their names are Saleria and Salazar Riddle. I don’t want them to grow up in that environment. Please take us into hiding.”
“I will hide the heirs, however I don’t think it is safe for me to take you in.” Dumbledore paused then sighed, “They will be safe now I must ask you to leave.”
Hellenia left, two days later she was captured by death eaters and after a month of torture it became obvious she wouldn’t say what was done with their children so Voldemort beheaded her. She died peacefully knowing her children were being kept safe by Albus Dumbledore and his Order of the Phoenix.
Chapter 1: Twins before school
Nobody wanted much to do with Voldemort’s heirs, well almost nobody. Severus Snape for one made a point of stopping by the room they were kept in and spending a few hours with them during his weekly visit to headquarters. He began teaching them to read and found they were already fairly good at reading already so he taught them chess, which they learned quickly. They played as a team against him, speaking in parseltongue to decide, then moving the appropriate piece.
Another set of people who didn’t mind spending time with the heirs, as most people didn’t give them the dignity of names, was Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. They would take their food up to the twins and join them for lunch. They would entertain the twin Riddle’s by juggling and playing more simple board games and doing puzzles. So for five months Saleria and Salazar were relatively happy.
Then, on October 31st Lord Voldemort attacked the Potters, killing James and Lilly and marking Harry. Voldemort seemed to be gone but the twins knew, oddly enough, that he wasn’t. The Order of the Phoenix was being dissolved and there was only one last serious topic left to discuss the fate of the heirs.
The first thought was Snape who was ‘Uncle Sev’ to the two children. That was shot down because if any Death Eaters found out of who the two were then everything would be in vain. Next came Remus Lupin, but one he is a werewolf and two his mate was just taken away for an eternal stay in Azkaban. No one wanted two deadly children living with them.
Eventually Dumbledore made a list of trusted people with children, each person would have the twins for one month and if they ran out of people they would simply start at the top again. The ones on the list grudgingly agree to this plan.
Saleria and Salazar quickly learned that no one but Uncle Sev liked them. Uncle Sev had the privilege of spending one day with them a month while he moved them from one house to another. They loved their Uncle Sev so much that they would have killed themselves if it would please him. After all he was the only person in memory who was nice to them.
Now ‘the Sals’, as Snape called them, liked to watch people act nervous around them by age five. This was probably because it was the only form of entertainment besides books, chess, and imagination. One of the easiest ways to do this was to speak in parseltongue to each other. Of course they had always done this as it felt more naturally to them then any of the other five languages they knew (Latin, Spanish, French, German, and English).
The Sals were also incredibly smart; this was because they spent so much of their time reading. Uncle Sev always said they were smarter than all his first years combined. He brought them all different books, some fiction and some basic magic books so that they would have the edge that they would probably need in the future.
Now something good did happen to the two lonely children when they were six…
“Are you two ready to go to the Weasley Residence?” Severus asked the two children whom he had come to love.
“It doesn’t really matter.” Saleria responded
“Yeah, they are all the same.” Salazar added on.
“We get put in a room and told to stay quiet.” Saleria continued.
“We want to play outside, or something.” Salazar finished.
The depression in the two kids’ eyes broke Severus’s heart, “I’ll see if this family will let you play outside. I’m not making any promises about it though.” The kids brightened considerably and ran forward to hug him.
“WE love you Uncle Sev.” The Sals spoke in unison and brought a smile to his face. He hugged them back.
“I love both of you as well, now we have to get going.” Severus levitated the two trunks and walked to a carriage the Sals followed behind holding hands as usual.
At the Weasleys a very different talk was taking place unfortunately they would be having the heirs in July meaning all of her children had a chance of exposure to the dark children.
“Now listen, we are going to have twin six year olds staying with us for a month, they will be here soon. Your father cleaned out the spare room for them. They are going to stay in that room and not come out. I don’t want you going in either. They are dangerous so leave them be.” Mrs. Weasley ordered.
“Mum, if they’re only six how dangerous can they be?” Bill, who was headed into his fourth year, asked. Charlie, who was only ten months younger than Bill, nodded showing that he too was confused.
“They are very dark in nature; they were born of the darkest man seen in centuries. They are dangerous. So stay away from them!” Mrs. Weasley snapped at her first born son.
“We will Mum, but,” It was Charlie this time, “Just because its dark doesn’t mean it’s bad.”
“Who taught you something that absurd?” Mrs. Weasley asked.
“Professor Dumbledore did, in theory of Magic.” Bill responded, “I thought it was cool so I told Charlie.”
Just then a carriage pulled up, “Just do as I say and go to your rooms!” The Weasley children rushed to obey and went to their rooms.
Molly Weasley opened the door to see Severus Snape levitating two trunks; “Come in the room they will be staying in is right here.” they went up one flight of stairs and her set down the trunks. She saw two children (she knew one was a boy and one was a girl but they looked identical) holding hands and following closely to Professor Snape.
“Why don’t you two look around in here; while I talk with Mrs. Weasley, I’ll be back to say good bye soon though.” Severus spoke softly to the two.
“Yes Uncle Sev” one spoke while the other was looking at the ground. He ruffled their hair and led the way out of the room.
Once in the kitchen Severus began to talk, “I hope that wasn’t literal. Will they be allowed out?” he asked.
“No, I will not have them contaminating my children!” Mrs. Weasley responded sharply.
“May they go out side, at least once? Children need fresh air.” Severus continued.
“Not dark children! I have already thought through how things will go for the next month now say good bye to them and take your leave!” Mrs. Weasley responded.
Knowing once a Weasley made up their mind there was no changing it he did just that. Things were not all that bad this month, for Fred and George waited for their Mum to go to bed then snuck down to the Sals room and went. They talked for a bit then played a board game. This happened every night and for one the Sals were sad to go because the twins had been their first friends.
The next five years were the same as the first two. Still, the Sals held onto their memory of having friends. They were at a level that according to Uncle Sev they could probably take their NEWTs in their third year. Not that they would have wanted to.
To be continued…
