Lucida: I don’t own Yu Yu Hakusho! I like to write too much!

PART 1

The phone rang at the Urameshi residence. An adult Yusuke picked up the phone.

“Hello?” He said.

“Hey! Yusuke! Long time no talk!” Koenma said.

“Whaddya want, Binkie breath?” Yusuke asked as Keiko came up, holding a small child.

“Oh, it’s Koenma? Tell him lil Raizen and I say hi,” she said brightly.

“Keiko and Raizen say hi,” Yusuke said in an annoyed manner. “Now, the only time you act all chummy with me is when you want something. What do you want?”

“Well, you see, we have decided that we want to have Spirit Detectives all over the world, stationed in certain areas,” Koenma said.

“And what does that have to do with me? Your old man doesn’t like me too well,” Yusuke stated.

“We want you, Kurama, Kuwabara, and Hiei to come to Spirit World for two weeks to train and judge the teens we chose,” Koenma informed him.

“What?! Hell no,” Yusuke said.

“Watch your tongue around Raizen,” Keiko ordered Yusuke.

“Cuse me, heck no,” Yusuke corrected himself.

“You don’t have a choice in the matter, Yusuke,” Koenma said. “Remember that party…The Guy’s Night Out…Ten years ago…?

“Fine, fine,” Yusuke sighed. “Blackmailing is illegal, y’know!”

“But it gets the job done! Be ready by noon tomorrow!” Koenma said, hanging up. Yusuke sighed, slumping his shoulders. He then spun around to Keiko.

“All right, Daddy has to go and train some little a-“ he stopped and looked at Keiko, who was glaring at him “adolescence that need to be taught how to be Spirit Detectives for two weeks.”

“Asses!” Raizen said, his brown eyes beaming. Keiko glared at Yusuke, who could only sweat drop.

Yusuke stood in front of the Spirit World gates, a bag slung over his shoulder. Someone walked up behind him in the haze.

“Yusuke, it’s been far too long,” the red haired man said, walking up to Yusuke.

“Hey, Kurama! Nice braid!” Yusuke laughed, messing with the red rope on Kurama’s shoulder. “I see you’ve grown it out.”

“Yes, I have,” Kurama replied. “It’s now down to my waist.”

“Jeez, why would you want hair that long?!” Yusuke exclaimed in surprise.

“Let the fox do what he wants, Detective,” someone said. Suddenly, a black blur stood by Kurama. Nothing much had changed about Hiei over the years, except possibly his outfit. He didn’t wear the white scarf or black cloak. His outfit consisted of black pants and black boots. The top was long-sleeved and tight. Around his neck was the two tear gems.

“Still haven’t returned Yukina’s tear gem?” Kurama asked. “Y’know Kuwabara’s coming as well. If he sees you with two, then he might realize it.”

“Hn, let him,” Hiei said. “I’m tired of that secret.” Suddenly, Yusuke whacked him hard on the back.

“There ya go, Hiei! Coming out of the closet!” He laughed.

“What? Hiei’s gay?” Kuwabara asked, coming up behind the group. His orange hair was combed neatly out of his face a rough beard was on his face.

“No!” The other three yelled.

“What?” Kuwabara asked. Before anyone could say anything, the gates to the Spirit World opened. The teenaged form of Koenma stood there.

“Hey guys, you’ve all changed,” Koenma laughed.

“And I see you haven’t, Koenma,” Kurama replied.

“Well, c’mon in! I’ll show you to the training grounds!” Koenma said. “We have a lot of fine candidates.” The group followed Koenma has he continued to talk about the plans, the training, ect.

“Take it back!” A girl yelled, pinning a boy down. “Girls can do what guys can! Admit it!” The browned haired girl ordered. The black-haired boy glared at her from the corner of his eye.

“No way!” He yelled, kicking her in the stomach and sending her crashing into a group of other teenagers and then into a wall. She rubbed her head but quickly got up. She ran at the boy only to have someone grab her collar.

“Well now, can’t you two behave?” Kurama asked as he and the others looked in shock at the girl and guy.

“Let me go, girly-man!” The girl snapped.

“How could you tell he was a guy?” Someone asked.

“He doesn’t have any boobs!” The girl exclaimed. Yusuke, Koenma, and Kuwabara snickered a little while Hiei smirked. Kurama, on the other hand, looked appalled. Koenma walked up to Kurama and put a hand on his shoulder.

“All right, let the girl go, Kurama,” he snickered. Kurama let the girl’s collar go. “Everyone, I’d like to introduce you to your instructors,” Koenma said to the group. “This is Yusuke Urameshi, the former Kyoto Spirit Detective. And this is his team, Kazuma Kuwabara, a spiritually aware human. Hiei, a fire demon with the Jagan eye. And Kurama, formerly known as Youko Kurama.”

The Youko Kurama?” A young, red kitsune demon asked. She walked up to Kurama and inspected him carefully. “OMIGOD! Can I have your autograph?!” She exclaimed.

“Um, well,” Kurama said nervously, rubbing the back of his head.

“Retsuko, stop it,” a Japanese boy said, grabbing the fox girl by her collar and dragging her back into the group.

“No! Arata! Don’t crush my dreams!” Retsuko exclaimed.

“Hey, why’re there demons kids here, Koenma?” Yusuke asked.

“Well, some of them wanted to learn how to be spirit detectives as well,” Koenma replied. “It’s actually a good way for humans and demons to learn how to get along.”

“Hn, some of these children are pathetic,” Hiei stated, examining the brown haired girl from earlier.

“What?! Pathetic?! Children?!” The brown haired girl exclaimed, glaring at him. “What’s that mean, small fry?!”

“Even though Ivonne’s energy doesn’t seem so strong, she is astoundingly gifted with strength, and when she gets angry, her energy sky rockets,” Koenma explained.

“What? She’s not angry now?” Yusuke asked.

“Oh, she’s getting up there,” Koenma replied. “Erich here,” he said, motioning to the boy she had been fighting earlier, “has the same gift. They’re cousins.”

“And what of the Arata boy?” Kurama asked Koenma.

“He’ll be taking over the Kyoto area,” Koenma informed them. “He and Retsuko are partners. Arata has the ability to manipulate his spirit energy into whatever weapons he wishes. Retsuko, as you might have noticed, idolizes Youko Kurama to the t. She specializes in plants.”

“Any others we should keep an eye on?” Yusuke asked.

“There’s a pair from America,” Koenma said, motioning to the two. “Another human/demon pair. The blonde girl’s name is Becky and she has a large amount of spiritual energy hat she doesn’t know how to control yet. The demon is a demon boy she found and took care of. Her family eventually adopted him, not entirely realizes the fact hat he was a demon. He is, in truth, a fire demon. Due to his history though, he doesn’t know much about wielding it.”

“All right,” Yusuke said, rolling up his sleeves. “We’ll whip those two into proper shape.” The group examined Becky and the fire demon. Becky wore a plain, gray t-shirt and jeans, one of the most plain outfits. The fire demon had spiky red hair and dark, brown eyes. His outfit was a red tank top and dark pants.

“Hn, what’s the boy’s name?” Hiei asked.

“Oh, Pyrros, the only thing he could remember about himself,” Koenma informed them. “Tomorrow’s when we begin. But now, we go get some dinner and get reacquainted.” The adults nodded.
