Lucida: I saw the genre Western and thought “ZOMG! MUST WRITE WESTERN FOR YU YU HAKUSHO!!!”
I don’t own Yu Yu Hakusho. But I own this concept. I don’t think anyone else would want to though. XD
CHAPTER 1
All was quiet in the small town of Kyoto. The sheriff sat lazily in front of the jail, watching people pass on the main road. He nodded to the red-haired doctor, Shuuichi Minano. The doctor nodded back, smiling. Then, as if he remembered something, he walked over to Yusuke.
“Sir, I was just delivering some medicine to your mother,” he said politely. “But at the same time, the mayor wants me to visit him because of a headache. Can you give your mother this medicine?” Shuuichi pulled out a bottle of clear liquid. Yusuke nodded, taking the bottle.
“No problem,” he said.
“Thank you, sheriff,” Shuuichi said, walking away from the porch.
“Oi, what did the doctor want?” Deputy Kazuma Kuwabara asked, coming out of the office.
“Just asking me to deliver some medicine to my ma,” Yusuke said. “She’s been having stomach pains lately.”
“Was Miss Yukina with him?!” Kuwabara asked, both excitedly an in despair.
“Nope,” Yusuke said. “She must still be at his office.” Before Yusuke even finished the sentence, Kuwabara had taken off to the doctor’s office. Yusuke smirked, knowing that Kuwabara took any chance to flirt with Yukina. Even if her guardian, Shuuichi, wasn’t around.
Shuuichi had been doing some late night work when he had found the girl wandering around. She had a few bruises and cuts on her and was filthy. When he asked her what her name was and where she was from, she informed him that she was Yukina Koorime and was looking for her long lost brother. Shuuichi had told her that this town was on a major route and that if she wanted, she could stay with him. The girl graciously accepted, thanking Shuuichi many times for his kindness.
As Yusuke sat on the porch, watching the clouds, he felt an apple hit him in the head. He grabbed it and rubbed his head, muttering a few unclean things under his breath. He looked at the perpetrator and Keiko Yukimura stood there, holding a basket.
“Did you forget, Mr. Urameshi?!” She asked, glaring at him.
“Eh, oh yeah,” Yusuke said nervously. “You, me, picnic…”
“Yes, and I’ve been waiting for an hour!” Keiko exclaimed, stepping onto the porch, waving her finger at the sheriff.
“Ah, I’m sorry, Keiko!” Yusuke exclaimed, ducking to avoid a slap.
“I’m sure you would forget when we were getting married if we were!” Keiko stated, preparing to strike him.
“N-no, I wouldn’t, Keiko!” Yusuke said, avoiding another blow.
“Hey, what’d you do this time, Urameshi?” Someone asked, causing the two to stop and look at the person. Shizuru stood there, in her normal, guyish attire and a cigarette in her mouth. She was Kazuma’s older sister and owner of the local saloon.
“Oh, hello, Shizuru,” Keiko said, smiling as Yusuke stood in the back, catching his breath. Shizuru looked at the two, taking her cigarette out and letting a puff go.
“I see, Urameshi forgot about your picnic?” She asked, walking onto the porch. She stood in front of Yusuke. “Hey, have you seen my idiot brother?” She asked him.
“Y-yeah, he went to the doc’s office,” Yusuke said.
“All right,” Shizuru said, walking off the porch to the doctor’s office. Keiko let out a frustrated sigh.
“Look, Mr. Urameshi, let’s just try again tomorrow,” she said, walking off of the porch as well.
“I’ll remember for sure this time, Keiko,” Yusuke promised.
“Sure you will,” Keiko said sarcastically, looking over her shoulder with a smirk. Yusuke smirked as the girl walked off. He had no clue what she saw in him but he sure liked it. As he stood there contemplating, a blue-haired woman walked onto the porch. She wore a simple calico dress and glasses.
“Sheriff,” she said. “Mayor Daioh would like to speak with you.”
“All right, I’ll be over in a few minutes,” Yusuke said in a bored manner.
“Now, sheriff!” Botan said, grabbing him by his bandana and dragging him to town hall.
“Gyah, all right, Botan!” Yusuke yelled, getting out of her grip and walking into the mayor’s office. “What’s up, mayor?!” He asked in a brash manner.
“Good day, Sheriff Urameshi,” The brown-haired mayor said. “I hope all’s well.”
“Yeah, yeah, so whaddya want?” Yusuke asked.
“Well,” Koenma said, “I need you to form a team and go after the bandits that call themselves ‘The Three Kings.’ Their real names are Raizen Yukoshiro, Yomi Jinto, and Mukuro Hajito. They have many, many other people below them that you and your team will need to defeat to get to them. Do you understand, Sheriff Urameshi?”
“Right, well, how many people would you suggest?” Yusuke asked.
“Three others besides yourself with suffice,” Koenma replied.
“Well, there’s Kuwabara,” Yusuke said, looking at the ceiling and counting on his fingers. “So, I need two more fighters. Where the hell am I gonna find two more fighters in this town?!”
“I’m sure you’ll find some diamonds in the rough,” Koenma stated. “Miss Botan, please show Sheriff Urameshi out,” he ordered while shuffling some papers.
“Right away, sir!” The bubbly blue haired girl said, grabbing Yusuke’s arm and dragging him out.
“Hey! I’m not done with him, dammit!” Yusuke exclaimed.
“Too bad, sheriff,” Botan said, tossing him onto the street. “He was done with you.” She closed the door, leaving the annoyed sheriff on the street. He sighed, rubbing his neck.
“Well, guess I better get to work,” he said.
“Hey, have you seen a blue haired girl with red eyes pass by here?” A short guy with spiky black hair asked someone a little bit out of town.
“Oh? Are you asking about Yukina, the doctor’s assistant?” The rancher asked. “She’s just in town. Looking for her long lost brother.”
“Thanks,” the short man said, putting his hat back on. His outfit was completely black except for a black bandana around his neck and a white headband. He turned to look at the town with his narrow, red eyes. He jumped onto his black horse and rode up to the town, stopping in front of the saloon. He looked up at the fading sky. He would need a place to stay for a little bit.
“Hiei?!” Someone said. Hiei looked at the person. The red-haired doctor stared at him in shock, as if seeing a ghost from his past.
“Kurama,” Hiei said, getting off of his pitch black horse and tying him to the post. He examined the man before him. “I see you’re doing quite well.” The shock look on Kurama’s face melted.
“Yes, I’m the doctor of this town,” he replied. Hiei nodded in response.
“Hey, Shuuichi!” Someone yelled, making the two turn. Yusuke walked up to the two of them, in one of his goofy moods.
“Hello, Sheriff Urameshi,” Kurama said, trying to look calm.
“Who’s your friend?” Yusuke asked with a goofy smile.
“Sir, are you drunk?” Kurama asked.
“Maybe a bit,” Yusuke laughed. “So, who’s your friend?”
“Hiei,” Kurama replied.
“Huh, last name?” Yusuke asked, goofiness gone.
“I don’t think that’s any of your business,” Hiei said. “I’m just passing through.”
“Well, it is my business if you’re the notorious Hiei Jaganshi who’s partner, Youko Kurama, vanished without a trace,” Yusuke simply stated.
“Hn,” Hiei said. “I’m going in to get a drink.” He entered the saloon, leaving Kurama and Yusuke out in the starlight.
“So, why don’t I buy you a drink, Sheriff?” Kurama asked politely.
“That would be aweful kind of you, Doc,” Yusuke said cheerily, almost forgetting about the short person inside. The two entered the bar, sitting next to Hiei.
“Miss Kuwabara, two drinks for myself and the sheriff,” Kurama said to the brunette behind the counter.
“All right, Red,” Shizuru said brightly, turning to the brews.
“I see you’re quite busy tonight,” Kurama said, noting the many people in the saloon.
“Yup, people are keeping us on our toes,” Shizuru replied, setting the drinks in front of Yusuke and Kurama. “So, how’re you boys tonight?”
“I’m fine,” Kurama said politely.
“Pretty good except the mayor gave me a hard job,” Yusuke sighed, taking a swing of the brew.
“Aw, is the job too hard for little Yusuke?” Shizuru teased.
“Dammit, Shizuru! Don’t tease me!” Yusuke exclaimed, receiving a small chuckle from Kurama.
“Hey, Red,” someone said, tapping Kurama on the shoulder. Kurama turned and looked at the drunk cowboy.
“Yes?” He asked.
“You took my seat,” the man stated.
“No one was sitting there before,” Hiei interjected, sending the man a glare through the corner of his eye.
“Why you little-!” The man yelled, grabbing Hiei by the shoulder and spinning him around. Hiei avoided the blow and punched the man in the stomach, sending him to the ground. The man gasped for breath as he sat on the floor. Yusuke blinked, surprised by the little stranger’s speed.
“Billy, are you okay?” Another man asked, walking over to him.
“Yeah, fine,” the man named Billy gasped, getting up. A third man stood by Billy.
“Yer gonna pay fer that, small fry,” he said. Hiei narrowed his eyes but the crack of a whip was heard.
“I suggest you all leave quietly,” Kurama said, having gotten up from his stool and pulled out a brown whip. Hiei smirked and withdrew his katana from its sheath.
“Wuh-?! Hiei and Kurama?!” Billy said, his face blue with fear. “The Blade and the Whip?!”
“Why is it that you’re the one they always mention first?” Kurama asked Hiei as the room got quiet.
“Because I didn’t run off,” Hiei said.
“W-we’re sorry for bothering you two,” Billy said, backing off. He then turn around and ran, leaving his two friends.
“Wait for us, Billy!” They exclaimed, running after him. Kurama and Hiei put their weapons away. Kurama sighed, and turned to Yusuke. Yusuke was sitting there, smirking.
“I think I can make a deal, Doc,” Yusuke said.
“Hn, like you could ever capture us,” Hiei stated. Yusuke pushed the brim of his hat up, thinking.
“Well, it would be hella tough time,” he said, “but I’d win. Besides, this is my town and I can get you real easy.”
“What’s the deal, Sheriff Urameshi?” Kurama asked.
“Well, from this time forward, you two are now deputies so call me Yusuke!” Yusuke said cheerily, giving the two badges.
“What the hell is with you?!” Hiei exclaimed, shocked by the man.
“Well, I needed two more people to help me with a job,” Yusuke said. “And you two fit perfectly!”
“Hiei, I think we just got dragged into something we shouldn’t have,” Kurama said and Hiei nodded in agreement.

Yusuke: What the hell…?!
Hiei: Hn, Lucida’s at it again.
Lucida: Haha! It was fun, though!
Kuwabara: I was hardly in it! –cries-
Hiei: Shut up, you baka.
Kuwabara: what’d you say, shrimp?!
Kurama: Um…Calm down, everyone…Please?
Lucida: Hehe…These kinds of fanfics are a lot of fun…Maybe I’ll do a Mafia one with Youko and Kuronue…
Youko: Don’t drag me into this. You promised to leave me out of this stuff.
Lucida: Just the Western. The mafia thing has been in my mind for a while.
Kuronue: Victims! We need protection!
Lucida: -is laughing evilly- It’s up to you! Should I do a Mafia-based fanfiction after this Western one or not?!
