This was lovely.

It's so rare to get a high school fic with these two that's in character for both of them! Your characterization is phenomenal, and Xander's voice in the narration is spot-on.

Thank you also for the little glimpse of the never-voiced not-quite-parental way that Giles acts with Xander. I appreciated that you captured both the affection, Xander's relational trust problems, and the fact they both care very much, in their own ways. (Also, thanks for that banter with Jenny, who I don't particularly like, but fit in nicely here anyway). All in all, not too mushy, wonderfully in character, and depressingly accurate to how I feel whenever I get a head cold.

When I read the first part I thoguht this was going to be sappy and overly sentimental. But this was really good. Your characterisation was pretty spot on and you still let them connect without ruining the many fasarde.

As usual this is a really nice piece of writing, beautifully paced with very, very good characterisations.

One small thing, I found the first paragraph really confusing. Something about it makes it really hard to read and I don't get the reference to the vodka. That could just be me though, but I did read and re-read it three times and still felt thrown by it.

The rest of the fic was, like many of your others, really, really good and it's nice to see something from you again!
